CODA in the Community

Annual Meeting

At CODA's annual meeting, January 30, the presidency of the board of directors was transferred from Eugene Rugala to Marcia Seymour. Newly elected members of the board are: Louise Blanchard, Cassandra Campbell, Marianne Harrison, Cynthia Cothren O’Neill, Anne Saravo and JoAnn Schneider.

The board of directors honored Vera Simmons and Kerry Mayo with CODA’s  Leaf Award which recognizes community members who have offered outstanding support for victims of domestic violence. CODA children’s activities coordinator, Mary Beth, nominated Simmons and Mayo, employees of Beaufort’s First Student, for ensuring that children residing at CODA’s emergency shelter are transported efficiently to and from their home school districts each day. Mary Beth cited the unfailing cooperation and sensitivity with which the pair have aided these often-overlooked victims of domestic violence.

Additionally three staff members were recognized for their long and dedicated service to victims of domestic violence. They are assistant director, Mary, and shelter advocates, Michelle and Jackie.
